Kinematics: Running

This week we learned about motion. According to “http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/motion” motion is the action or process of moving or changing place or position. In some cases this is true but in some cases it is not. It all depends on what the assumed “movement” is relative to. So in my picture I am moving relative to the cameraman. I am also moving relative to all the spectators, the signs, the ground, the cars.  Relative to one thing I am not moving. Relative to the other people running I am not moving. This is the case because all of those people are also running and going the same speed as me so it seems as if I am not moving from their perspective. Lets say I started running faster, relative to the people running slower I am moving but relative to the people running with me I am not moving. It is all about what the action is relative to.

  1. Good job with your post, this was a very creative way to combine physics and something you do outside of class. Your write up was very descriptive and easy to understand what motion really is.

  2. First of all, nice picture. I like the way you described motion. You also gave good examples of motion and how it is relative to certain things. Good post
